Anyone in the Southwest Oklahoma Region; Counties include: Caddo, Comanche, Cotton, Jackson, Jefferson, Kiowa, Stephens and Tillman
Can I enter by myself?
Yes, but a team is preferred.
Is there a limit to a team size?
No
Can any non-students or non-Cameron University students be on my team?
Yes
Must I be a U.S. Citizen to compete in the competition?
You must be eligible to legally start and run a business in the U.S.
Can my team compete in the Student Category?
All members of a team competing in the student category must be attending a public, private, or home school, a technology center, or a university. Any team that is comprised of students and non-students must compete in the community category.
Can my team compete in the Community Category?
All members of the community can compete in this category.
Why do we have to submit resumes in Stage 2?
Part of the exercise of starting any new venture is convincing others (potential employees, funding sources, customers, etc.) that you and your team are the right people to make the proposed venture a success. Resumes provide a standard way for you to demonstrate your background, experience and qualifications in a relatively concise form.
What kind of business idea can I submit?
We're looking for a wide range of submissions that can be a value to our community.
Are there restrictions on the type of business which may be planned?
All submitted businesses must be legal under Federal or State of Oklahoma statutes and any other applicable laws.
What if I have never written a business plan?
Now is a good time to start. A business plan demonstrates that you have thought through the critical issues related to launching a business. We would be happy to provide guidance.
Should I use business-plan software to prepare my plan?
Business-plan software can help you get organized and even help you prepare financial statements. CETES has a business plan software that you may use to create your business plan, please contact [email protected] for more information.
Will I get detailed feedback on my plan?
No. Unfortunately, it would be difficult for the judges to give detailed feedback to each team/individual.

The judges consist of investors, service providers, seasoned business people, and members of the Oklahoma entrepreneurial community.
How will my intellectual property be protected?
See confidentiality and IP.
If my intellectual property is not protected, can I enter the competition?
Yes, but this being a public forum, we cannot guarantee that your idea will remain confidential.
Is there a fee to apply?
No. This competition is free and open to the public.
What are the prizes?
There will be cash and in-kind prizes, which are intended to assist in the start up phase of the business.
Must I use the prize money to start the business?
We highly encourage you to use the prize money to further your business plan into the development stages and continue into a full fledge business that promotes the Oklahoma economy.
Can I select my own mentor?
Yes, you may select your own mentor.
Are teams/participants required to attend seminars/workshops listed on the calendar?
No, however the seminars/workshops are highly encouraged.
